Spring, Summer and Fall Activities

GREEN MOUNTAIN HORSE ASSOCIATION

The GMHA show grounds are located in South Woodstock, 1/2 mile down the road from the KVI. The GMHA presents a wide variety of horse shows and special equestrian events throughout the spring, summer and fall. The KVI has long been a home base for competitors and spectators attending these many events. Contact the GMHA or the Inn for information about upcoming events.

GOLF

The Woodstock area is one of northern New England's premier golf destinations. A number of terrific courses are available to Kedron Valley Inn guests. Guests have playing privileges at Woodstock Country Club's 18-hole Robert Trent Jones course, located just minutes away from the Inn. It's scenic and compact, but be warned that it crosses water eleven times. We have made arrangements for KVI guests to play the well-known and private Quechee Country Club, which offers 27 outstanding holes and has hosted the New England Amateur in recent years. Other top courses in the area include the Killington Golf Course and Green Mountain National Golf Course. Please contact the Inn for further info and to make tee times.

TENNIS

Woodstock Health & Fitness Center has 10 outdoor clay and hard courts available to the public. Pros can provide lessons plus tips on their complete line of equipment for sale. If you forget your racquets, they'll rent you one for a small fee.

HIKING

There are five stunning hiking sites are within 20 minutes of the Inn. One descends to the floor of a mini-Grand Canyon and one offers a panoramic overview of Woodstock village and surrounding farmland. All offer peaceful relaxation and escape from city crowds and noise. Details are available in our info center. Shorter strolls (a couple of miles in length) along country roads are an option from our front door.

SWIMMING

Our spring-fed, chemical-free private pond is the place to be in warm weather. Two acres in size, with a sandy beach at the shallow end, the pond features comfortable loungers and a sunning float in the middle.

BIKING

The lovely scenery and winding roads are quite appealing to bikers. Routes for both road bikes and hybrid bikes abound. Mountain bikers can ride either their bikes or the chairlift up Killington Mountain and ride their bikes down. Bike rentals can be arranged by the Inn.

FISHING & CANOEING

Lessons and equipment as well as off-site fishing and canoeing expeditions can be arranged through a local outfitter. Call the Inn for further info.

PUBLIC GARDENS

Gardeners can explore three public plantings: Carrie Brown's cherished perennial garden at the Calvin Coolidge Homestead in Plymouth; Billings Farm's Victorian flower and vegetable gardens; and the carefully landscaped grounds at the Rockefeller Estate where nearly a century of history under the influence of forest conservation is presented.

FALL FOLIAGE

Late September and most of October are typically when Vermont's world famous foliage season reaches peak, though timing can vary by a week or two each year. Central Vermont has some of the finest foliage and scenic drives anywhere. Maps and self-guided tours are available through the Inn. Remember to book early as this is among the Inn's busiest times.
